 Abraham Otieno


Born: 2000     Gender: Male

Case History: He is the last born in a family of 5. Their parents died in 2002/2003 and they were left under the care of their grandmother. They were offered a vacancy in Huruma Children's home at the request of the Children's Officer Kajiado District.

 Alice Wanjiku


Born: 1998     Gender: Female

Case History: Orphaned by both parents. They were left under care of their grandmother who could not be able to maintain them because she had limited resources. Her brothers ran away from their guardian's place and she was left alone. She was then brought to Huruma and months later her brothers were found in Kibera and both her brothers were brought to Huruma.

 Angela Namnyak

 

Born: 2005     Gender: Female

Case History: She was rescued by the Social Services Department from the streets of Magadi Soda with her biological mother .Her mother is mentally sick and this was a threatening fact for a young child. Angela was very sickly when she was brought to the Home and her mother was taken to a psychiatric hospital where she is up to now. Angela's whereabouts were later traced in Pokot District.

 Anne Nduta

 

Born: 1994     Gender: Female

Case History: She was living on the streets with her mother and her sisters. Two sisters went to school and she was left with her mother and one sister. Her mother would beg on the streets to feed them as she looked for a job. One day she said that she will look for a school and she took a bus and came all the way to Huruma and she came and pleaded with Mama Zipporah to take her in and she accepted and her mother went with her other sister.

 Anne Njeri

 

Born: 1998     Gender: Female

Case History: She is the last born in a family of five children and her mother was a single mother. Her mother passed away when she was very young and her and her sister Milkah Wambui and the other siblings were left under the care of their elder sister. They were later rescued by Watoto Wetu Home and she was enrolled in Olkeri Primary School. They were later referred to Huruma by Watoto Wetu Home.

Anne Sanaipei

Born: 1992     Gender: Female

Case History: She is the first born in a family of five children. Sanaipei’s father is a nomadic pastoralist who is bound by Maasai traditions, and he decided to force his daughter to marry an elderly man about 65 years old. Sanaipei who was in class six, smelled a rat when her father called her and said she should stop going to school and she disappeared a month later and took shelter at her aunt’s. The aunt linked her with a girl-child lobbyist group which referred her to Huruma Children’s Home- Ngong.

 Anne Wambui


Born: 1986     Gender: Female

Case History: The girl's mother fell sick and died on the way to hospital and they had separated with the husband. Ann is the first born in the family of five. She was reffered to Huruma from another children`s home together with her brother.

 Anne Wanjiru


Born: 1999     Gender: Female

Case History: Anne is the 4th child of in the family of five. He mother who was unmaried died of HIV /Aids last Year. They came from Rift valley where they were staying after their mothers death. Their Grandmother is very old and she live on help from welwshers. One of her sister is HIV Posive.

 Asha Wairimu


Born: 1994     Gender: Female

Case History: The mother died when the girl was eight years old due to sickness. The father took care of the child and even took care the child to Kianjiruini Primary School. The father was taken ill and all the monies he made from casual work went into his medical bill.

 Baby Brian


Born: 2008     Gender: male

Case History: The baby was abandoned at their rental house in Mathare slums Ngong together with his other two siblings by his mother and they were rescued by a good Samaritan who took him to the Ngong police station who later referred him to the home.



 Benson Rabori


Born: 1992     Gender: Male

Case History: Ben is an orphan whose father and mother are both dead. He was reffered to Huruma by his step sister who works as a maid.

 Bernice Wairimu


Born: 1988     Gender: Female

Case History: The mother died in 1997 leaving six children behind. The children had no one to look after them because the father used to work to provide for the family needs far away from home. The elder child aged 15 years had to leave school to look after the other children. Soon she got married and the children had to take care of themselves. The father due to his old age was unable to go on with the job. He came to stay with the children. The Aunt assisted him to get a vacancy at Huruma Children's Home.

 Beth Wairimu


Born: 2000     Gender: Female

Case History: The biological parents passed away and her and the other nine siblings were left under the care of their elder brother who also has a family of his own. Due to the fact he is unable economically they were referred to Huruma Children?s Home and they were admitted to the Home.

 Branis Degenya

 

Born: 2000     Gender: female

Case History: She left home after her father beat and harrassed her and her siblings severely. Their mother died in the year 2007 and left the three siblings who have suffered after their father married a second wife.

 Catherine Kagendo


Born: 1999     Gender: Female

Case History: Her parents died of HIV and no relatives could be traced. They come from Meru and she was committed to Huruma by the court for her care and protection together with her brother. Very little is known about her and her brother as well as the family.
