Case History: Their mother used to work as a barmaid and one day she ran away and left the two children alone in the rented house she stayed in. The landlord later discovered the children were alone after three days when he went to take his rent. He contacted the police who responded and brought the children to the home. Later their mother was caught and she is currently in police custody.

Case History: After his mother left him and his siblings, his father began to sexually abuse Peter's elder sister. The case was reported to the police who arrested the father, arraigned him in court and he was jailed for life and the children were referred to Huruma.

Case History: His parents were charcoal burners. Their home was burnt down and everyone else disappeared within the neighbourhood. In the month of November 2005, a staff member of the remand Home escorted him to Kimana, Loitoktok where his grandparents reside that is according to the child. However they could not be traced. He was later brought to Huruma.

Case History: He was found abandoned by a good samaritan in Kamukuru area in Kiserian. His case was reported to the Chief Oloosurutia. He was later taken to Kiserian police station who later referred the boy to the home.

Case History: Rachel is a victim of tribal clashes of the Rift Valley where she lost her father. When they moved to central province, due to shock, her mother who was expecting delivered a normal child but she died on the same day. Rachel and her four siblings were left to be cared for by her maternal grandmother, who was an alcoholic, and the community had to rescue the children.

Case History: She came to the home at the request of the police after their mother was charged with killing their sister while disciplining her. She is the fifth born in a family of six.

Case History: Both parents died of HIV/AIDS and relatives refused to stay with them fearing contracting HIV. His two siblings were taken to another orphanage and Regina and his brother and sister joined our home in May. We negotiated with the home so we could bring the children together to live as a family as the youngest was so broken by the separation. All five are now living at Huruma.

Case History: It was a court case whereby the father was taken to court on charges of sexually defiling her and her young brother. they were brought by police.

Case History: Richard was born in a family of five. When his mother sadly passed away, his grandmother started to treat him in a cruel manner. His mother used to work for Huruma and due to this he was attending Huruma Primary school, he approached Mama Zipporah and asked her to permit him to reside at the Home because he was being treated cruelly at home. Mama Zipporah agreed.

Case History: Robert joined Huruma in 1999 together with his two siblings. They were referred to Huruma by their grandmother after caring for them after their mother passed away in August of 1999 of HIV/AIDS.

Case History: Her mother passes away on 1999 when she was only a very young child and left with her young brother under the care of their Uncle in Ngong. The Uncle got tired of taking care of them and took them to the police, who then brought them to Huruma.

Case History: Sammy came to the home in 1999. The mother abandoned him together with his other three brothers. The uncle took them in but realized that he was unable to care for them and referred them all to Huruma.

Case History: His father left him with his mother and four other children. The mother later abandoned the children. The children's pictures were put on the Daily Nation whereupon Mama Zipporah saw them and brought them to the home to be cared for.

Case History: He together with his brother Zakayo have been staaying at Kirangari sub-location with a person called Rueben Ayub Theuri who claim to be with the SDA. The man is about 70 years old and looked depressed and confused thus causing him to keep the children in a pathetic situation.
