Huruma family is delighted to present you with our Home Newsletter for the month of May. We feel blessed and delighted this moment as we share with you what the Lord has been doing in our wonderful Home and lives during the month. I am so happy for l have known that the God of Abraham and Elijah still lives and nobody can convince me otherwise. Since November last year we have been praying and seeking for God’s intervention. Sometime last year in a dream, when everything seemed not to be working l saw a man blocking my way and l tried to pass all sides and could not. Since then the world was silent and nothing was moving. We went to court several times and we even tried other ways and many of our friends tried to help us, but God told me that He has the final solution to our problems and nobody can help us. I even saw journalists running after me and Monica (one of our staff) and I told her we run away from them where we reached an intersection road but l told her we go inside the forest so that we could escape them and they did not follow.

On April the Judge listened to us and gave us a later day for the 3rd of June where she could deliver the ruling. The God who used to talk a long time ago still talks because on the eve of the ruling l prayed very much crying to the Lord. I remembered my husband who died of strenuous stress just because somebody wanted to mess up the image of Huruma Children’s Home without minding the lives of the many children who are involved and also the Founder’s efforts to give their lives and property wholeheartedly.

I thank God who gave us favour with the Judge and she said that she cannot close the home due to the fact of the welfare of the needy children. And she gave back the stay orders which protects us and prohibits the Director of Children from coming here for 120 days till we go back to the court on 27th of September 2010. From here the real hearing shall begin on why they were closing the home and from there we still need to pray but remember that God told me that nobody can help us only Him.

As l had seen in the dream the court was full of Journalists carrying their big cameras and I was with Monica (one of our staff). But the problem they could not differentiate who was Mama Zipporah between us. They tried asking the Prosecutors but they refused to respond to them. When we were called in, Pastor Jojo, David Otieno and George, who are our children allowed me to get in but they closed the door from the journalist and they leaned on the door. When we got out of the court we never stood outside but went a different direction where even our lawyer found it difficult to locate us. He did not know what was happening for he thought we would have been happy to speak to the journalists but you know Glory and Honor belongs to our God and truly He is the one to receive all the praise. “I (Pastor Jojo) I’m a witness to everything Mama is talking about because Mama talks to me about everything she sees in her dreams and eventually they come true”.

For those who do not understand, when the plans were done for the school, also the church/hall were included. But these were left for when the school was finished because we thought we could add a balcony for we wanted to help our community too; and we are proud to say now that the whole project is almost complete. We thank God for it shall be used in our community as the only theater, and we welcome all our friends to come and share this big blessing with us for the dormitories, I can proudly say that all the foundation is complete which is a lot of work because we had to dig deep into the ground. In August we can start building again if the rains stop for it has been raining for the last seven months, so that we can access the building sand from the river, and also the building stones. It was very serious, that we had to reinforce the bank wall which was build by Pastor Linn Winters of Cornerstone Church and his elders, who had visited with him last year.

Finally, we thank God for you as it was not easy and we thank God for your prayers and we believe that whatever the devil stole from us will be restored back and God will continue fighting our battles. Keep praying for us and we believe your prayers keep us moving and make me feel strong and have the fighting spirit for my kids that I love so much. We appreciate all you do to us and thank God for you, just like Hebrews 13:5 says, ”He will never leave us, nor forsake us”. This is so real in our case and even in the near days as we will be going back to the court, for more/real fight. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank God for you, and we pray we will continue partnering with you even in the near future and to eternity. Be blessed! Be strong! And lastly, always remain in His unchanging arms.

Home News

It’s yet another month and we continue giving thanks to the Lord almighty who has continued to renew our strength every morning. He has surely continued to guide each step that we make in the children’s ministry which calls for great courage and patience in carrying the duty of serving the children wholly. I believe we are God co-workers and we view ourselves as Gods partners in changing our image and life and more so that of the children under our care. I wholly trust that we cannot serve a great and remain small. The book of Joshua 1:8 has been our inspiration meditating upon the word of God day and night so that we may prosper

The month was great as the children embarked in the second term of each year and normal school routine was adhered to. The community children also came back despite the challenge we faced of transport but it’s our hope and prayer that it will not take long. The Lord God who has been faithful in his provision will surely provide for the same. On the same point the home   has gone an extra mile of hiring a public means which picks he community children in the morning and take them back in the evening and the Lord has provided for the same and we pray that God will remember the families of these children  and that he will also continue providing for their needs.

The children wellbeing has continued to be our priority and as a home committed to working directly with the children will soon be able to implement a child protection document that will safeguard the children from any ill treatment. The document also will create a friendly environment i.e both physical and socially for all the children and that working with part of them will not be advisable. It will also include the behavior guidelines for communication with the children hence creating an organization that is aware of child abuse. We believe that this will be possible because God has made us associate with those who add values into the children’s self image and not success hazards!!!Our children are very much able and they are destined for a balanced, fulfilled, satisfied great future. The Book of Philippians reminds us that we can do all things through him who give strength. Paul knew of this great secret and embraced it.

We are not failures and because we believe people fail not that they don’t have the ability but because their mindset about themselves is wrong and when they ask from God ask with the wrong motives. Biblical example is the children of Israel who regarded themselves as low citizens who never deserved a good life and only positive thinkers like Joshua and Caleb came with good reports and this shows how we block God from taking us to greater height due to our bad mind set. The rift between success and you is your negative thinking!!!! The Book of Hebrews reminds us that we are not of those who shrinks back and are destroyed, but of those who believes and are saved.

All in all we want to appreciate our dear friends and partners who have always stood with us materiary and in prayer even in times that appeared to be thin and thick. May the Lord Almighty grant you his favor in all your endeavors. Remember you are doing the work of the Lord for you are God sent to children whose father is GOD.
