Huruma Family News

Catherine Sialo my biological daughter has finally left the home to go and live on her own.   It was not easy for her to make that decision since she really wanted to feel she is supporting me.  For me l feel strong now and with Moses Ndung’u who just finished his college in Kenya Polytechnic University by my side, I feel just like David Otieno wrote the tribute for my husband that the children will stand by me,  Sialo has also been blessed with a wonderful Job in a Company called AVEX which is an internationally company Based in Nairobi.

I want to thank God for Evangelist Teresia Wairimu of Faith Evangelistic Ministries  who invited Mrs.(Mama Zipporah) and David Otieno at the partners Lunch in her church in March and. David was selected to talk on behalf of other children she supports Amazing thing happened for in the attendance was the managing director of a big Kenyan Company who has given him a job in  as he finishes his university this in early coming May.

It was wonderful to receive Mama Lisa again in Kenya even if it was just for a short time.  While here we were able to cerebrate the Newly Weds.  Mr. and Mrs. Mbugua and their Daughter Catalina aged only four months.  Both Mr. and Mrs. Mbugua are former children from Huruma. When l look back l just thank Mama Lisa who really was very instrumental and caring for both of them.  We thank Pastor Linn and his family and my Daughter Caroline who really supported and made their wedding a memorable occasion which they will never forget. We hosted Cucu Fiama from Italy and Cucu Moline from England.   Were volunteers on the month of February. Their job here was to mend cloths for the children and let me tell you they were so busy until Cucu fiama told me she does not want to see the cloths for sometime but the cloths still came.

On March the students from Kenyatta University, Langata Army Barack Church Youth, Rusinga School and students from two high schools in Murang’a were our visitors in the month.  Companies this month were presented by Cocacola Africa who visited in great number on the 19th of March and on the same day the rains decided to come down in torrents and still they never gave up. I wish you saw them planting fruit trees and they did not care about their office cloths and shoes which was so muddy when they were leaving.  I was humbled to see them going down to earth to touch us during the month of may they also presented us with one month food supply which is a great help for now as the Kenya shilling is deteriorating in exchange the food staff has been affected so much but one thing I know we shall never sleep hungry and it’s my prayer we shall have land where we can farm food produce.

While at the Land l would like you to know that JCC Nairobi has handed the title of a five acre land which was donated to the home By Bishop Alan Kiuna two years ago.  This month of march the church handed the title of the land to us but l still have to find where it is and if we can use it in farming .  The other House we were given in Utheru we got the Title and l went to the land registrar to confirm and I found its true it has been given to the home and its registered with the home but still there some family problems and l am looking on ways to tackle the issue since we still want the Lord to shine in everything.

Dormitories Construction.

The building is progressing well for on 4th of April the construction of suspend floor for one of the unit will be done on 4th of April and it is  our prayer that God willing we shall be able to Construct for the second unit on May because it will take 21 days to dry so that on June we  can start on plastering the walls and fixing of windows and doors and also working on electricity so that our goal of  entering in September Can be realized.  The boys who have lived with Mama Zipporah since the home begun will move to a bigger dormitory where each boy will be sleeping on his own bed  without sharing which will be great answer to our prayer but to Mama Zipporah it is a dream which has become true.

The dormitory has been divided in two units where the High School will have its unit with their care taker and the boys in Primary will have their unit and their care taker.  The Unit has four bedrooms of which the children will take three of them and the caretaker one.  In every unit there is a kitchen a dinning hall but care takers will be picking food from the kitchen. Each unit has bathrooms of its own which is a very big difference of what we have today.

If you would like to take part as l walks the last leg to realize my millennium goal.  Kindly let us know.  You may call for any information on our volunteer group for we need many to help us organize or you may drop off your regular contributions to Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, AZ, Chandler. Your donations both in finances and in kind, have done so much and will certainly go along way. We look forward to seeing you on the 16th of April 2011 which is the day we shall hold our walk to Nairobi.  Our DC in Kajiado North District will be officiating the walk. Your presence, support and prayers shall be highly appreciated. You are a blessing to our children and our Home and we are grateful to have you as our friends and partners in this children ministry.

School News

The total number of children in the home school is currently at two hundred and forty. There was a big number of enrollments from the community. The total number of the students in high is currently at twenty eight   due to form one enrollment.  Still we would like you to know that charges are taking place in our country where the government is trying to streamline policies and making them effective and as a children home we have not been exempted too. Education sector has been so affected with cheating but now it will make it had for those people who cheat to excel for birth certificates and pictures has been introduced for every candidate sitting for government examination.

For the home it has  been easy for us for we do not have any  background of the child we children  but we thank God for the children office in Kajiado who have helped me to see that every sitting for exams at the end of the  year. For Monica our councilor who take the assignment  travelled  many times to Kajiado where the registration done and  when it did not work Mama Zipporah had to go herself in all we are proud to say all have been registered  is for their final examination at the end of this  year  and besides they are now Kenya citizens.

Since the beginning of this term, the pupils have really portrayed a high quality aspect of discipline as compared to the past years.  Together with Mama Zipporah support (the Director)and teachers, this has contributed a lot to better results.  The pupils have really portrayed a high quality aspect of discipline as compared to the past years. This has been catalyzed by the prefects’ body headed by the Head boy and the Head girl (Peter Njoroge and Susan Nadupoi) who work tirelessly with their assistants to ensure law and order of the school rules and regulations are adhered to.

It has taken God’s intervention to have completed the month and we won’t forget to give Him all the honor and gratitude for helping us to acquire birth certificates which enables them to sit for their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education and Kenya Certificates Secondary Education. More thanks goes to all our children sponsors for the financial provision so that we could be able to travel forth and Back for Kajiado Town is two hundred kilometers from Ngong where we stay and the lines were very Long so Monica was leaving very early in the morning to be the first in the line.

Our vision as an organization is to empowering children extra -curricular activities. With a team spirit, the school hopes to fulfill the vision of empowering children in need with self-reliant skills too by working together and tirelessly for the betterment of the child ten years from now you will see children graduating within our vision.

Thanks in advance for considering supporting Mama Zipporah in her endeavor to help the children.  The 27 mile Walk will be held on 16th April at the From Barclays Bank Ngong to Nairobi. The goal of the walk is to raise awareness of my need to build for my children.  Through this awareness to ensure that people in Kenya receive the sensitivity of the need to reach to children.  After the walk the high school children will go for two weeks to visit with their relatives and friends of the home.  We thank God for Cornerstone Church in Chandler, Hoopes of hope Ministries, Our Friends in Canada My children, my Kenyan supporters who have joined me in the race to build for my children.
